It looks as if Garth Brooks is singing a new tune ... "Take Me Out To The Ball Game." The country superstar recently announced that he's trying out for the San Diego Padres in their spring training camp in Peoria, Arizona, as a non-roster invitee. Garth, 37, said he is taking a swing at becoming the team's utility man; he plays left, center, right, third and first. He'll take a job with a Padres minor league team if he makes the cut. A lifelong baseball fan, Brooks worked out with the Padres for two days last spring and made a pinch-running appearance in a March 15, 1998 exhibition game against the Chicago Cubs. Any money he would make in baseball salary would go to his newly-formed Touch 'Em All Foundation to help various children's charities, nationally and in San Diego. "My first and foremost goal is to not embarrass Major League Baseball of the Padres," Brooks said in a news release. "I'm excited for what this can do for the children, and I feel like I'm living the dream of every guy who has ever wanted to play Major League Baseball. I am so lucky."
