Pop Stars Pay Tribute to Sun Records
A tribute album to Sun Records will be issued this summer, to coincide with the theatrical release of a Sun documentary directed by Bruce Sinofsky. Sun was the Memphis label that launched the careers of Country Music Hall of Fame members Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash and country-rockabilly stars Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins, and Charlie Rich. Paul McCartney recorded "That's All Right" with former Presley sidemen Scotty Moore and D.J Fontana, reports rollingstone.com. Bob Dylan, The Who, Elton John, Jimmy Page & Robert Plant, Jeff Beck, Chrissie Hynde, Mark Knopfler, Kid Rock, Van Morrison, Sheryl Crow, The Roots, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi and Rod Stewart also have signed on for the project.
