The Tennessee Titans came up short in their NFL playoff game Sunday (Jan. 7), but Alan Jackson had a winning outing at Nashville's
Adelphia Coliseum. Tapped to sing the national anthem, Jackson brought along members of his band, the Strayhorns, to play
a bluegrass version of the venerable tune. By all accounts, Jackson's rendition gave new life to "The Star-Spangled Banner."
Jackson has not opened an NFL game before, his assistant says. He and the band worked up the new arrangement -- incorporating
Dobro, fiddle and mandolin -- last week.
