Sony Music Entertainment Inc., the Dixie Chicks' record company, is being sued for copyright infringement for the band's use
of a snippet of the gospel standard "I'll Fly Away" in the song "Sin Wagon," The Tennessean reports. "Sin Wagon" appears
on the multi-platinum album Fly. The group performed the song on the CMA Awards broadcast in October on CBS. The family of
the song's writer, Albert E. Brumley, says the band did not have permission to use the song. Music publisher Albert E. Brumley
& Sons is asking for $500,000 in damages, the newspaper report said. In September, the company settled a lawsuit with rapper
Sean "Puffy" Combs and R&B singer Faith Evans, who sampled the same song in their Grammy-winning single, "I'll Be Missing
You." A spokeswoman for the Dixie Chicks told country.com the band has no comment on the case.
