Faith Hill and the Dixie Chicks tied for best-selling country album of 2000, the Recording Industry Association of America
has decreed. Hill sold 5 million copies of Breathe, while the Dixie Chicks moved the same number of units of Fly.
Both albums were released last year. Fly sold 3 million copies in 1999, according to the RIAA, for a total of 8 million
to date. Hill's career total now stands at 15 million, tying her with husband Tim McGraw. His Greatest Hits, certified
this month for sales of 1 million, brings his total to 15 million. Other country titles receiving RIAA certification this
month: Billy Gilman's Classic Christmas and John Michael Montgomery's Brand New Me, gold, for sales of 500,000
copies; Reba McEntire's So Good Together and Toby Keith's 1998 Greatest Hits, Vol. 1, platinum. As previously
reported Lonestar's Lonely Grill has sold 3 million copies, and Shania Twain reached a milestone when Come On Over
hit the 18 million mark. The album is now the best-selling record by a solo female artist.
