Country Tours Grow in 2000
Touring trade publication Amusement Business is reporting gross revenues for this year's country music tours are up 54.5 percent over last year, according to Billboard Bulletin. Total attendance was up 31 percent. The Soul 2 Soul Tour, featuring Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, was the No. 1 outing, raking in $49.6 million and playing to just under a million fans over 65 dates. The Dixie Chicks' 'Fly' Tour, grossed $46.1 million over 81 shows and drew 1 million fans. The George Strait Country Music Festival was third, earning $21 million from only 10 dates.
