What started with a simple desire to entertain has turned into somewhat of a calling for Collin Raye. It's Raye's efforts to do something meaningful with his music and celebrity status that has led him to be part of USA WEEKEND's Make A Difference Day on October 24th. The event was launched, in part by The Points Of Life Foundation, to encourage people across the country to spend all or part of one day helping others. Entries to USA WEEKEND describing their activities are judged by a panel of celebrities and awarded donations to the charity of their choice. Not only will Raye join Paul Newman, Gloria Estefan, Spencer Christian (Good Morning America) and others as a celebrity judge once entries have been submitted, but starting October 24th, he will "make a difference" with his own charity project by raising awareness and funds for Childhelp USA. Childhelp is one of the nation's largest nonprofit organizations devoted to the prevention, treatment and research of child abuse and neglect. "The Eleventh Commandment," a song from Raye's new album, The Walls Came Down, tackles this disturbing subject matter head on. The coinciding music video displays a Childhelp national child abuse hotline, 1-800-4-A-Child, along with a 30-second public service announcement. Look for the spot on CMT, as well as over 2,800 country radio stations across the country. Additionally, Raye will host a benefit concert at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium on October 25th with special guests Kenny Rogers, Kathy Mattea and several others.
