The Western Music Association handed out its 12th annual awards Thursday night (Nov. 16) at the Tucson Convention Center in
Tucson, Ariz. Ranger Doug Green of Riders in the Sky hosted the event. Winners included: Dave Stamey, Male Performer of the
Year; Belinda Gail, Female Performer of the Year; Ryan Martin, Instrumentalist of the Year; Jack Hannah (Sons of the San Joaquin),
Songwriter of the Year; Riders in the Sky, Group of the Year; and "He Just Can't Be Seen From the Road," written by Jack Hannah
and Baxter Black, performed by Sons of the San Joaquin, Song of the Year. Around 3,000 western music enthusiasts attended
the awards show, which included a performance by Riders in the Sky. The Beverly Hillbillies, Yodelin' Slim Clark and Frankie
Laine joined the Western Music Association Hall of Fame.
