Chuck Wagon Races & Tony Bennett
The stellar music lineup for the 2000 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo was unveiled this week. The annual event takes place Feb. 18 - March 5 at the Astrodome and -- as usual -- will feature performances by some of the biggest names in country music, including Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, the reunited Judds, Reba McEntire, Kenny Rogers, Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, Jo Dee Messina, LeAnn Rimes, Sammy Kershaw, SHeDAISY, Clint Black, Steve Wariner, Clay Walker and Robert Earl Keen. Boasting a diverse lineup, non-country performers include Boyz II Men, Enrique Iglesias, Tony Bennett, Smokey Robinson, Rod Stewart and the Steve Miller Band. In addition to the concert entertainment, there will also be a laser and light show, and of course, plenty of rodeo action during the 20 rodeo performances, including the world's largest calf scramble, chuck wagon races, and indoor fireworks. The charitable event is committed to benefiting youth and supporting education throughout the state. Since presenting its first scholarship in 1957, the Show has committed more than $68 million in scholarships, graduate assistantships, endowments and grant contributions for the youth of Texas.
