St. Patrick's Day Benefit Revisited (Yet Again)
A kind gesture that speaks highly of Patty Loveless, the country star will participate in the St. Patrick's Day benefit concert at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium, afterall. Before Loveless officially committed to the event, organizers prematurely listed her as a part of the bill on advertisements and at least one news release. Although corrections were immediately sent out, the snowball avalanched after Loveless' inclusion appeared in the media (including this column). Now the busy country star has graciously rearranged her personal schedule so she can perform the concert. As it stands now, the lineup includes Loveless, Marty Stuart, Steve Earle, Emmylou Harris, Sam Bush, Tim O'Brien, Sonya Isaacs, John Hartford, his son Jamie Hartford, Kathy Chiavola, Wild & Blue, Gail Davies, Larry Cordle & Lonesome Standard Time, Mel Besher, Mike Henderson & the Bluebloods, the Cluster Pluckers and an all-star house band with Dave Pomeroy, Aubrey Haynie, Bryan Sutton, David Harvey and others. The March 17 concert will benefit a music scholarship program that honors late bluegrass musicians Roy Huskey Jr., Randy Howard and Charles Sawtelle.
