"Flowers on the Wall" Blooms Again
"Flowers On The Wall" made the Statler Brothers famous. And Eric Heatherly is hoping it will do the same for him. Heatherly's first single, due to hit radio Feb. 14, is a remake of the Statlers' 1965 classic, which went to No. 2 on the country charts and No. 4 on the pop. It is from his forthcoming album, Swimming in Champagne, on Mercury Records, produced by Keith Stegall. "Flowers on the Wall" was written by Lew DeWitt, an original member of the Statler Brothers who died in 1990. We wonder how his line about "smokin' cigarettes and watchin' Captain Kangaroo" will go over with today's listeners.
