Emmylou Harris, Patty Griffin and two members of the Dixie Chicks collaborated recently on a recording tentatively slated
to appear on the soundtrack for an upcoming Ashley Judd film, Where the Heart Is. The new recording of "Beyond the
Blue," a song by Beth Nielsen Chapman and Gary Nicholson, came together under the musical guidance of co-producers Buddy Miller
and Steve Fishell. Chicks Martie Seidel and Emily Robison played mandolin and Weissenborn slide guitar, respectively. Where
the Heart Is is based on a novel by Billie Letts about an expectant mother who takes up residence at a Wal-Mart in Oklahoma
after her boyfriend abandons her. Published in 1995, the book was an "Oprah's Book Club" selection. The movie is slated for
an April release. More details about the soundtrack will be forthcoming in the near future, says a spokeswoman for RCA Label
Group, the company issuing the disc.
