Shania to Present on CMAs
Shania Twain is scheduled to make a rare awards show appearance at The 34th Annual CMA Awards, to be broadcast live Oct. 4 on CBS. The Country Music Association's reigning Entertainer of the Year, she will present the top honor at the end of the telecast. Twain, who now lives in Switzerland, was notably absent from both the Canadian Country Music Awards on Sept. 11 and the Academy of Country Music Awards last May, where she also was named Entertainer of the Year. CMA nominees George Strait, Brad Paisley and Sons of the Desert have been added to the list of performers for the show. Strait will sing "Don't Make Me Come Over There and Love You," a tune from his new self-titled MCA album. Paisley will perform a medley of songs from his nominated debut album Who Needs Pictures. Sons of the Desert, nominated in the vocal event category with Lee Ann Womack, will join Womack on "I Hope You Dance." Charley Pride, who will be welcomed into the Country Music Hall of Fame during the show, will perform as part of his induction. The 18-time CMA winner last performed on the broadcast 20 years ago.
