The mighty Garth snagged a whopping six trophies recently at this year's annual Billboard Music Awards, which aired
on Fox-TV. In addition to Brooks opening up the show by flying over the audience and wailing out his "Ain't Going Down 'Til
The Sun Comes Up" hit, he accepted honors for Country Artist of the Year, Male Albums Artist, Country Album of the Year for
Sevens, Country Singles Artist of the Year, Country Albums Artist of the Year and Top Album By A Male Artist for Sevens.
This year's wins brought Brooks' total Billboard Music Awards count to 24. LeAnn Rimes followed Brooks by receiving
five awards, including Female Country Artist of the Year, Country Singles Sales Artist of the Year, Contemporary Christian
Artist of the Year and Contemporary Christian Album of the Year for her You Light Up My Life disc. Rimes also accepted
a special honor for her "How Do I Live" single remaining on the chart for 69 straight weeks -- the longest ever in Billboard
history.
