Waylon Tribute Released
The long-awaited RCA project, I've Always Been Crazy: A Tribute to Waylon Jennings, was released Tuesday (Aug. 19). Jennings' widow Jessi Colter contributes a solo take on their 1981 duet "Storms Never Last." Colter says, "Waylon and I had done a few things separately, but never, ever music. I think you can hear a little of the pathos of it in my voice on this track. However, recording it this time became a real milestone for me. I realized I simply had to pick myself up, put my boots on and say here's what it is and here's where we are now." Their son Shooter's band Stargunn also offers a rock version of the title track. Contributors from the RCA Label Group include Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney, Sara Evans, Andy Griggs and Pinmonkey. The project also features appearances by rock artists Ben Harper, James Hetfield of Metallica, Kid Rock and John Mellencamp. 08/19/03
