Deana Carter, Raul Malo and Hank Williams III will contribute tracks to Badlands: A Tribute to Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska.
The project, due in November, will be released on Seattle's Sub Pop Records. It will include all 10 cuts from Nebraska as
well as one from Born in the U.S.A. According to legend, Springsteen recorded 1982's Nebraska on a four-track
recorder and insisted that Columbia Records release the music as it was put down. In the spirit of the original work, Sub
Pop has asked the artists on the tribute album to record their cuts using only four tracks. Carter will record "State Trooper,"
Williams will re-cut "Atlantic City," and Malo will cover "Downbound Train." As a further nod to Springsteen's humanitarian
efforts, the label will donate a portion of the album sales to Doctors Without Borders, a non-profit group that provides free
medical assistance.
