Songwriter Hugh Prestwood faces criminal charges in New York after authorities at Long Island MacArthur Airport discovered
a loaded.38-caliber revolver in his carry-on luggage. The 61-year-old songwriter, a resident of Greenport, N.Y., arrived at
the airport Friday (Jan. 9) to board a flight to Nashville, where he was scheduled to perform the following night at the Bluebird
Café during a charity event featuring Michael McDonald, Jim Photoglo and Gary Burr. Prestwood was charged with one
weapon possession count and two drug possession charges after police found two medications he had without evidence of the
proper prescriptions. Prestwood's songs include Trisha Yearwood's "The Song Remembers When" and Randy Travis' "Hard Rock Bottom
of Your Heart."
