The University of Texas Medical School at Houston has received a $150,000 grant, thanks to Clay Walker. The money, generated by Walker's Band Against MS Foundation, will be used to advance the school's research on the causes of multiple sclerosis. Walker was diagnosed with the disease in 1996. After presenting the gift Thursday (Jan. 15), Walker promised the foundation will continue to fund MS research. "Our goal is to find a cure for this disease, and I am doing everything I can to lead that charge," Walker said. Dr. Jerry S. Wolinsky, lead researcher at the medical school, said, "The generous gift from Clay's Band Against MS Foundation will greatly benefit patients in the Houston area and beyond."
