Former RCA Records executive Grelun Landon, who helped guide the careers of Elvis Presley and Waylon Jennings, died Monday
(Feb. 2) in Ojai, Calif. Landon, 80, began his career in the '50s as vice president of Hill & Range Music, a New York-based
publishing company where he worked with Elvis Presley, Hank Snow and Johnny Cash. As RCA's West Coast head of publicity, he
was responsible for the label's relationship with Presley and his manager, Colonel Tom Parker. Landon was an active trustee
of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum from 1971 to 1989. In cooperation with Parker, Landon arranged for RCA to donate
Elvis Presley's "solid gold" Cadillac limousine to the Hall of Fame's collection.
