Texas singer-songwriter Billy Joe Shaver took his show to Hollywood club The Knitting Factory, where he played to a star-studded
audience Monday night (March 1). Actor Luke Wilson -- a fellow Texan -- listened intently from the balcony as Academy Award-winner
Robert Duvall danced with a friend nearby. Shaver recently co-starred with Wilson, his brother, Owen Wilson, and Kris Kristofferson
in The Wendell Baker Story (a film also written and directed by Luke Wilson). The singer worked with Duvall on the
big screen in the 1997 film The Apostle. Duvall's longtime girlfriend, Luciana Pedraza, has just finished The Portrait
of Billy Joe, a documentary that will debut this month at the South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas. Shaver
told CMT News that country fan Kid Rock will produce his next album. The two met through mutual friend David Allan Coe.
