Although Garth Brooks has had numerous hits as a recording artist, he only had one against another Major League Baseball team until Thursday (March 11). As a pinch hitter for the Kansas City Royals, Brooks hit a grounder against Seattle Mariners pitcher Mike Myers. The hit catapulted Brooks' batting average to .048 for four seasons of spring training. After the game, he talked about the hit and admitted, "I was more surprised than the pitcher was." Brooks is participating in spring training to raise awareness of his Teammates for Kids Foundation. Regarding his athletic abilities, Brooks joked recently, "If it wasn't for the hitting and the fielding part and the running, I'd be good at this game."
