With a weekend off from his national tour with Martina McBride, Alan Jackson and his band, the Strayhorns, showed up Friday night (March 12) at Castaways Marina in Jupiter, Fla., to perform for almost four hours to a crowd of 1,100. Appearing on a small plywood stage, Jackson joked to the crowd, "Y'all can't even turn around, can you? What kind of place is this?" Jackson, who owns a house in the Jupiter area, performed several of his hits but emphasized cover material at the outdoor concert. The set list included Jackson's versions of songs by Conway Twitty, Hank Williams Jr., Charlie Daniels, Merle Haggard, George Strait and others.
