Bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley will be in Roanoke, Va., Friday night (March 19) to accept the 2004 Virginian of the Year award
from the Virginia Press Association. Former recipients include Bruce Hornsby and the late June Carter Cash. "Nothing makes
me prouder than praise from other Virginians," said Stanley, a native and resident of Dickenson County. "I think that my growing
up in the mountains of Virginia made my music what it is today."
