Don McLean and Al Green will be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame during a June 10 event in New York City. McLean,
best known for writing and recording "American Pie," hit the country charts five times during the 1980s, scoring a Top 10
country hit with his version of Roy Orbison's "Crying." Green wrote or co-wrote many of his own R&B hits, including "Let's
Stay Together." Other Hall of Fame inductees this year include Daryl Hall & John Oates, Charles Fox ("Killing Me Softly With
His Song") and the Motown songwriting team of Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong.
