Eight months after cutting its CD prices to $12.98 at retail, the Universal Music Group has raised the price to $13.98. Wholesale
prices have also been raised to $9.49 for most new releases (from $9.09) and hot new releases to $10.35 (from $10.10). Wholesale
prices for catalog albums are expected to be reduced soon. No other major music companies cut their prices in response to
Universal's actions last year.
