Gretchen Wilson's debut album, Here for the Party, has received platinum certification from the RIAA for shipments of 1 million albums. It's a remarkable achievement for a new artist who was virtually unknown just two months ago. Here for the Party made history just four weeks ago when it became the first album from a debut artist to hit No. 1 on Billboard's country albums chart in its first week of release. Supported by the success of "Redneck Woman" -- now enjoying its fifth week at the top of Billboard's country singles chart -- Wilson's album sold almost 227,000 in the first week alone. Presented Friday (June 11), the RIAA awards maintain the redneck theme -- with shag carpeting providing the background of a gold plaque (for shipments of 500,000 copies) and wood paneling for the platinum prize.
