Grand Theft Parsons, a film about the death of country-rock pioneer Gram Parsons, is being screened this week in Germany at the Munich International Film Festival. Directed by David Caffrey, the film stars Johnny Knoxville as Phil Kaufman, Parsons' road manager who stole the singer's casket at a California airport. Per Parsons' wishes, Kaufman personally cremated the body at Joshua Tree, Calif. The film was previously screened at the London Film Festival, the Sundance Film Festival and the Nashville Film festival. In related news, Keith Richards is now on the list of performers at two California concerts to honor Parsons. Billed as "Return to Sin City: A Tribute to Gram Parsons," the shows will also feature Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams, Jim Lauderdale, Norah Jones, Raul Malo, Jay Farrar, Kathleen Edwards and others. Raising money for the Musicians' Assistance Program, the concerts take place July 9 at the Santa Barbara Bowl and July 10 at the Universal Amphitheater in Los Angeles.
