Sara Evans sang "Born to Fly," and Brooks & Dunn performed their patriotic "Only in America" during Wednesday night's (Sept. 1) program at the Republican National Convention in New York City. Before she went onstage, Evans told CMT News, "This is probably the highlight of my whole career." Asked about her song choice for the political event, Evans said, "I really feel positive about this party, about this administration, about this man. And I feel like George W. Bush was born to fly. ... I'm dedicating it to him and to the Republican Party and the feeling that I have with being associated with this party. ... George W. Bush has such strength and courage, and he has so much character. And that's what I love about him. So, he was born to fly."
