The third annual Doug Sahm Day will be held at Antone's in Austin, Texas, on Thursday (Nov. 18), featuring the Derailers,
the Bill Kirchen Band, Augie Meyers, Joe "King" Carrasco, Sahm's son Shawn Sahm, the Lucky Tomblin Band, Ernie Garibay & Cats
Don't Sleep and others. The Texas rock, country and Tex-Mex legend died in 1999 of a heart attack at age 58. The evening will
also include door prizes and a live auction. Sahm's 1974 Lincoln Town Car will also be auctioned. Tickets will be available
at the door the night of the show. This year's Doug Sahm Day is a benefit for San Antonio's Rocky Morales, who has incurred
considerable medical expenses. Morales, a saxophone player from San Antonio, was a regular in Sahm's ongoing recordings and
tours with a horn section, the West Side Horns. A petition will also be launched calling for Sahm's nomination for membership
in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
