Van Zant Brothers Sign to Sony Nashville
Johnny and Donnie Van Zant, the brothers best known for fronting rock bands, have signed a record deal with Sony Nashville to make a country album. Johnny joined Lynyrd Skynyrd as lead vocalist in 1987, some 10 years after a plane crash claimed the lives of several band members, including his older brother, Ronnie. Donnie is a lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for 38 Special. Due later this year, the album will be produced by Mark Wright and Joe Scaife, who co-produced Gretchen Wilson's Here for the Party.
