Sparks' Album Release Draws Famous Friends
Bluegrass artist Larry Sparks was surrounded by his musical admirers Wednesday (March 2) to celebrate his new album of duets, 40. During a celebration at BMI in Nashville, Sparks enticed Tom T. Hall to the stage to sing "I Want You to Meet My Friend" with him. Hall wrote the song with his wife, Dixie. Sparks recorded the project at Hall's studio. Kevin Denney also shared the stage with Sparks on "Tennessee 1949." Carl Jackson, Ricky Skaggs, Sharon White, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings showed up for Sparks' concert at the famous bluegrass venue Station Inn later that night. Sparks is the IBMA's (International Bluegrass Music Association) reigning male vocalist.
