Surprise guest Ronnie Milsap closed out an energized concert at the RCA Label Group boat show on Thursday (March 3). The show, one of the key events of Country Radio Seminar Week in Nashville, took place on the General Jackson showboat as a dinner cruise on the Cumberland River. RLG artists who performed included Brooks & Dunn, Andy Griggs, Phil Vassar, Diamond Rio, Rebecca Lynn Howard, Brad Paisley (with Sara Evans as duet partner), Blaine Larsen, Jeff Bates and Evans. Milsap joined Vassar as they played on adjoining grand pianos. Milsap performed his hits "Smoky Mountain Rain" and "Stranger in My House." RLG head Joe Galante presented Milsap a plaque for sales of 10 million records, noting that "much of our history and country music's history is tied to your records." Milsap closed his set with a spirited version of Ray Charles' "What'd I Say" with Evans, Howard and Carolyn Dawn Johnson as backup singers and dancers.
