Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday (March 15) in Cooper City, Fla., for Danny Joe Brown, lead vocalist for the Southern
rock band Molly Hatchet. Brown, 53, died Thursday (March 10) at his home in Davie, Fla., of complications from diabetes. Molly
Hatchet, one of Southern rock's most commercially success bands, formed in Jacksonville, Fla., in 1975. Their 1978 self-titled
debut went platinum and their second, Flirting With Disaster achieved double-platinum status. Brown left the band in
1980 and later formed the Danny Joe Brown Band but returned to Molly Hatchet for 1982's No Guts ... No Glory. The group
disbanded but later recorded and toured without Brown. He had been hospitalized for several weeks before returning home. His
survivors include wife Crystle, five children and a stepson.
