Universal South Records is launching a new imprint, Superlatone Records, to provide a home for Marty Stuart's future projects.
The deal was announced Wednesday morning (May 11) at the company's office on Nashville's Music Row. Stuart already has three
albums scheduled for release, including Soul's Chapel, a collection of religious music classics and new songs. Set
for Aug. 28 release, Stuart describes the project as "Mississippi gospel." It features a guest vocal from R&B great Mavis
Staples of the Staple Singers. Release dates are still to be determined for Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives
Live at the Ryman (recorded at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium in 2003) and Badlands (a collection highlighting native
Americans in South Dakota). Stuart is also completing six books, including three photography collections.
