Gill Launches All for the Hall
Vince Gill has announced a new artist-based fundraising campaign for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. During a Tuesday (July 12) morning ceremony attended by Hall of Fame members, board members, artists, record label heads and industry representatives, Gill said the All for the Hall campaign idea came to him during an artists' dinner he and his wife, singer Amy Grant, hosted at their home. He said he knew the Hall of Fame needed increased funding and called a number of artists together to discuss the problem. The usual approach, he said, has been to seek donations from Nashville's relative handful of wealthy arts patrons. "I decided, 'Let's have the balls to do this ourselves,'" said Gill. "I'll give a night of my life away to the Hall of Fame. That's the promise of All for the Hall." As a result, a number of artists' All for the Hall benefit concerts will begin taking place. Those already pledging to donate one night's earnings include Kenny Chesney, Lonestar, LeAnn Rimes, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Earl Scruggs, Charlie Daniels, Del McCoury, Phil Vassar, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Junior Brown, Jimmy C. Newman and Melonie Cannon.
