Dukes Movie Tops Weekend Box Office Report
The Dukes of Hazzard movie pulled in $30.7 million this past weekend
to become the nation's top-grossing film of the week. Coming in at No. 2 was The Wedding Crashers (generating $16 million
in its fourth week of release). Third place went to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (grossing $11 million in its
fourth week of release). Despite the commercial success, the Dukes movie was met by dismal reviews when it was released
Friday (Aug. 5). Chicago Sun-Times film critic Roger Ebert called it a "lame-brained, outdated wheeze." In the Atlanta
Journal-Constitution, Eleanor Ringel Gillespie wrote, "It's every bit as bad as you thought it'd be. Only worse."
