Texas Gov. Rick Perry designated Saturday (Oct. 1) as Neal McCoy Day in the state. In issuing the proclamation, Perry noted,
"Neal McCoy personifies the character of the heroes of Texas [and] contributes so much of himself to his community, state
and nation." Tracy Lawrence, Daryle Singletary, Kevin Sharp and Leslie Satcher performed at McCoy's 11th annual East Texas
Angel Network benefit concert in Longview, Texas, this past weekend. Television personality Jack Hanna also brought an assortment
of exotic wildlife. McCoy and his wife, Melinda, founded ETAN to provide financial support for children in the East Texas
region with terminal or life-threatening illnesses.
