The album The Doc Watson Family Tradition will be reissued by Rounder Records on Oct. 25. Originally recorded by Ralph
Rinzler in 1964, the newly-remastered project features Watson and three generations of his and his wife's family performing
ballads, songs, fiddle tunes and banjo showcases. Of the sessions for this record, Rinzler said, "Many youngsters and old
timers came to listen and show appreciation. ... The sitting room at Doc's house was crowded, and songs were remembered that
had been laid away years since. The sessions also gave rise to some tunes which none of us had heard outside the family circle."
