Joaquin Phoenix, who portrays Johnny Cash in Walk the Line, escaped injury after a car crash in Los Angeles on Friday
(Jan. 27). A police spokesman said the brakes on Phoenix's car weren't working and he collided with another vehicle. Phoenix's
car also flipped over, but his publicist said the actor was wearing a seat belt and walked away from the scene. Phoenix is
still expected to attend the Screen Actors Guild awards on Sunday (Jan. 29), where he is nominated as best actor for his Cash
role.
