Emmylou Harris has been named the 2006 recipient of the Dale Franklin Leadership Award from Leadership Music, a nonprofit
organization that promotes communication among professionals working within the Nashville music industry. The award was established
in 2004 "to recognize a music industry leader who exemplifies the highest quality of leadership and leading by example." In
making the announcement, Leadership Music board president Van Tucker noted, "No other artist in our industry has so personified,
in action and in music, such an appreciation for Nashville's musical heritage across all genres as Emmylou Harris." She will
be honored Sept. 19 during a tribute banquet at the new Schermerhorn Symphony Center in downtown Nashville.
