Neal McCoy was named the Country Radio Broadcasters' artist humanitarian of the year during a Thursday morning (Feb. 16) session at the annual Country Radio Seminar in Nashville. McCoy was told to be at the Nashville Convention Center to sing the national anthem and introduce a keynote address by former Gen. Tommy Franks, who led troops Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq. McCoy was honored for his extensive work with his East Texas Angel Network, the USO and other charities. John Hines, morning air personality for radio station KEEY (K102) in Minneapolis was presented the CRB's Tom Rivers Humanitarian award, and other humanitarian awards went to KDXY/Jonesboro, Ark. (small market), WIVK/Knoxville, Tenn. (medium market) and WQYK/Tampa, Fla. (large market). Prior to Franks' speech, a representative of the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs presented Toby Keith with its Secretary's Award for Outstanding Service to American Veterans.
