Clark Parts With Mercury, Byrd Signs New Deal
After more than 10 years with Mercury Records, Terri Clark is parting ways with her longtime record label, according to a message on her official Web site. Noting she was signed to Mercury in 1995, Clark said, "During that time, I formed many wonderful relationships with the staff and will always look back on our years working together with great fondness. I am extremely excited about future career possibilities." ... Meanwhile, Tracy Byrd has signed an agreement with Artist to Market (A2M) Distribution to be the exclusive distributor of his forthcoming album. A2M is a subsidiary of the Handleman Company, which distributes recorded music to retailers, most Wal-Mart and Kmart. In streamlining the supply chain, Byrd's new album will be released this summer with a suggested retail price of $9.99. A2M last year released CDs for Tommy Lee and Sinéad O'Connor.
