The extensive two-disc compilation, The Essential George Jones, was released Tuesday (March 28) by Sony BMG Legacy.
The collection covers his work for a variety of labels, although more than half of the tracks come from his two-decade tenure
at Epic Records. Hits include "White Lightning" (1959), "She Thinks I Still Care" (1962), "The Grand Tour" (1974), "He Stopped
Loving Her Today" (1980) and "Choices" (1999). ... In related news, The Essential Roy Orbison was also released Tuesday
by Sony BMG Legacy. The two-disc set covers his career since 1956 with hits including "Blue Bayou," "Only the Lonely," "Oh,
Pretty Woman" and "Crying."
