The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band will observe its 40th anniversary of performing this year and will tour this spring and summer
with Willie Nelson. The band's current lineup consists of founding members Jeff Hanna, Jimmie Fadden and John McEuen, plus
26-year veteran Bob Carpenter. At the 2005 Grammy awards show, Hanna won a Grammy for co-writing the song "Bless the Broken
Road," and the Dirt Band won in 2004 for best country instrumental performance for playing on "Earl's Breakdown" with Earl
Scruggs, Jerry Douglas, Randy Scruggs and the late Vassar Clements. Tour dates begin April 27 in London, Ontario, and run
through October.
