Twenty employees of Sony BMG Nashville were terminated on Thursday (May 18) in the wake of last year's merge of Sony Music
and the Bertelsmann Music Group. In addition, the Epic imprint will also be discontinued as a country label, but its artist
roster -- including Gretchen Wilson, Miranda Lambert and Patty Loveless -- will be moved to Epic's longtime sister label,
Columbia. Sony BMG Nashville chairman Joe Galante also indicated in a memo that the roster of the company's four remaining
country labels, including RCA, BNA and Arista, will likely be downsized next month. Sony Music Nashville's president John
Grady exited the company in April after Galante added Columbia and Epic to his responsibilities.
