The Dixie Chicks' Taking the Long Way (Open Wide/Columbia/Sony BMG) was released Tuesday (May 23). Produced by Rick Rubin, all 14 songs were co-written by the trio. ... Also arriving in stores Tuesday are two Rounder Records projects -- Rhonda Vincent's All American Bluegrass Girl and Michael Cleveland's Let 'Er Go Boys! Vincent's album features guest appearances by Dolly Parton and bluegrass legend Bobby Osborne. Cleveland, a former member of Vincent's band, the Rage, is a three-time International Bluegrass Music Association fiddle player of the year. His album features some special guests, too, including Vince Gill, Del McCoury, Dan Tyminski, Larry Sparks, Tim O'Brien and co-producer Jeff White. ... Other new releases include Johnny Cash: Personal File, a collection of 49 previously unissued tracks that include original material and other songs from the Carter Family, the Louvin Brothers, Johnny Horton, John Prine, Rodney Crowell and Cash's stepdaughter, Carlene Carter.
