Willie Nelson's 33rd annual Fourth of July Picnic will feature Kris Kristofferson and Shooter Jennings this year, in addition to David Allan Coe, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Ray Price, Leon Russell, Billy Joe Shaver and many others. The concert will be held Tuesday at the Historic Stockyards in Fort Worth, Texas, in an acreage next to the Billy Bob's Texas nightclub. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. The concert will be broadcast live on XM satellite radio. ... In related news, Nelson has purchased the Methodist church in his hometown of Abbott, Texas, and performed gospel songs there Sunday (July 2) with his sister, Bobbie, and Leon Russell. The church closed in May after the congregation merged with a larger United Methodist Church in a nearby community. Nelson said he wanted to preserve the church services and the building that was constructed in 1899. During Sunday's service, Nelson told the crowd, "Sister Bobbie and I have been going to this church since we were born. Now, you're all members of the Abbott Methodist Church, and you will be, forever and ever."
