Ryan Adams Plays the Ryman
Ryan Adams performed at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on Tuesday night (Aug. 1), playing plenty of songs from his three albums released last year, as well as older favorites including "Oh My Sweet Carolina" and "To Be Young (Is to Be Sad, Is to Be High)." He also included a new song on piano, titled "Rip Off," and then proceeded to criticize people within the music industry who tell him his music isn't good enough (although he didn't mention his label, Lost Highway, specifically). He and his band, the Cardinals, capped the night with approximately five minutes of loud, distorted and improvised instrumentation that left several people in the venue hunched over in the pews while plugging their ears.
