Willie Nelson enlisted singer-songwriter Ryan Adams to produce his latest album, Songbird, scheduled for an Oct. 31 release on Lost Highway Records. Adams is also signed to the label and his band, the Cardinals, backs Nelson on the album, as does harmonica player Mickey Raphael. Nelson covers Gram Parsons' "$1000 Wedding," Christine McVie's "Songbird," Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter's "Stella Blue" and Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah," in addition to his own "Rainy Day Blues," "Sad Songs & Waltzes" and "We Don't Run." He also recorded "Amazing Grace" for the project. Adams' writing credits include Tim McGraw's latest hit, "When the Stars Go Blue."
