Kenny Chesney Showcases Road Crew's Musical Talent
Kenny Chesney put his road crew in the spotlight Saturday (Sept. 2) when he ended his 2006 tour with a show at the Verizon Amphitheater in Noblesville, Ind. Chesney stood in the wings as the unannounced opening act, referred to as Mostly Crew, performed Bob Dylan's "Highway 61 Revisited" and AC/DC's "T.N.T." Chesney noted, "People don't realize when they see those guys running around our stage ... or at one of the soundboards ... what good musicians they are," Chesney said. He added, "I wanted them to have a chance to show everybody else, so I asked them if they wanted to play a couple songs before I went on at the last show... and they took me up on it." After closing his set with "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy," Chesney presented Dierks Bentley, the only act to spend the entire summer on the tour, with a 22-foot Sea Ray boat.
